La FIFA lanzó una campaña contra las conmociones cerebrales
Con el fin de poder establecer un mayor conocimiento del tema, además de sumar nuevas medidas de prevención, la FIFA y la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) lanzaron una campaña por las conmociones cerebrales.
Sospechar y proteger es el nombre de la campaña creada por la FIFA y la OMS con el fin de concientizar aún más las conmociones cerebrales.
La iniciativa pretende concienciar sobre el hecho de que las conmociones cerebrales son traumatismos craneoencefálicos y constituyen un riesgo para los futbolistas sobre el terreno de juego", afirma la FIFA.
La campaña asegura que tras un golpe directo o indirecto a la cabeza, cara, cuello o cuerpo, un jugador deberá esperar hasta 72 horas por la aparición de sintomas.
Los principales síntomas son dolor de cabeza, náuseas, vómitos, problemas de equilibrio, mareos, visión distorsionada, sensibilidad a la luz, problemas de memoria, somnolencia, entre otras.
Una persona que presente uno o más síntomas de una conmoción cerebral debe abandonar el terreno de juego de inmediato. Se debe consultar con un médico lo antes posible, en un plazo de 24 horas. Los síntomas de una conmoción cerebral pueden variar o evolucionar en cuestión de minutos, horas, días o incluso semanas después del incidente traumático. En función de los síntomas, es preciso recibir asistencia médica urgente. La reincorporación de los jugadores a la actividad deportiva se debe realizar siempre bajo supervisión médica. No merece la pena correr riesgos por un partido, afirman.
