Jugadores estrellas y el fútbol europeo le declaran la guerra a la FIFA por el calendario
Demanda sin precedentes contra la FIFA la que se generó este lunes, por parte de varias instituciones como La Liga de España, la European Leagues y FIFPro (sindicato internacional de futbolistas).
El principal detonante de la denuncia es el reciente anuncio del nuevo formato del Mundial de Clubes, que la FIFA tiene previsto celebrar en el verano de 2025. Los denunciantes sostienen que este torneo ampliado afecta negativamente a los calendarios ya sobrecargados de las ligas nacionales y pone en riesgo la salud física de los jugadores, al reducir sus periodos de descanso.
Acusaciones de abuso de poder
En concreto la denuncia señala que la FIFA está tomando decisiones unilaterales, sin consultar a las ligas, clubes o jugadores que se ven afectados. Según el informe presentado, la imposición del calendario internacional por parte de la FIFA constituye un abuso de posición dominante y va en contra de la legislación de la Unión Europea sobre competencia.
El abuso de posición dominante y la falta de transparencia en la toma de decisiones de la FIFA están perjudicando a las ligas y a los jugadores. Este comportamiento infringe las normativas europeas que exigen que la FIFA, en su rol regulador, actúe de manera justa, objetiva y no discriminatoria, explicó un portavoz de los denunciantes.
